2014 Prizes & Opportunities

These Prizes and Opportunities were awarded in 2014; the following information is presented for information only.

The total prize value of the 2014 Australian Cello Awards was in excess of AUD $60,000 – made up of The 'Allen-Evans' and a number of other cash grants, prizes and career opportunities.

The Allen-Evans

Total value of AUD $40,000, consisting of: –

Up to AUD $31,000 in cash grants to assist in a programme of study and career development –

1. ALLEN-EVANS SCHOLARSHIP Cash grant valued up to AUD $15,000. 

Presented by the Allen-Evans Estate

2. HAAS AWARD Cash grant valued at AUD $10,000.

Presented by the Haas Family Trust

3. KITTY FISCHER PRIZE Cash grant valued at AUD $6,000. 

Presented by the Kitty Fischer Foundation

In addition to cash grants, the Allen-Evans recipient will receive –

4. THE ALLEN-EVANS Limited edition Drago Marin Cherina bronze sculpture

5. ING GROUP VIDEO PRIZE The recipient of the Allen-Evans Scholarship will receive a video of their Awards Concert performance and a personal interview which will be recorded following the event.

OTHER PRIZES TO BE AWARDED

ROSL ARTS SCHOLARSHIP

Includes return travel to the UK from the current place of study, with accommodation and hospitality for four weeks in the UK; concert opportunities for Royal Over-Seas League in London and Edinburgh; consultation lessons with prominent UK based teachers and tickets for cultural events.

The Scholarship is valued at approx. AUD $7,500, inclusive of a cash award of £500 sterling.

NELLY APT SCHOLARSHIP

A cash grant of AUD $6,000 for study in Israel to fund fees, accommodation, and return air fares to participate in a programme of study such as Keshet Eilon International String Mastercourse or a programme of your own choosing.

SYDNEY SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA PRIZE

An AUD $5,000 professional engagement fee for a concerto performance with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra in the 2015 or 2016 Season.

CANBERRA SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA PRIZE

An AUD $3,000 professional engagement for two concerto performances with the Canberra Symphony Orchestra in 2015. The prize also includes four nights' accommodation in Canberra.

UNIVERSAL MUSIC AUSTRALIA PRIZE

AUD $2,500 worth of classical CDs and DVDs. Universal Music Australia is the premiere classical music recording company in the world, encompassing the Decca and Deutsche Grammophon labels.

WILLOUGHBY SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA PRIZE

A professional engagement for two performances of a concerto with the award-winning Willoughby Symphony Orchestra during its 2015 Season at The Concourse, Chatswood. Includes an AUD $500 engagement fee.

Presented by the Willoughby Symphony Orchestra, in conjunction with Willoughby City Council

The winner will also receive a Music & Opera Singers Trust Ltd (MOST®) Travel Grant of AUD $1,500.

 

MOST® AUDIENCE PRIZE

A cash prize of AUD $1,000 selected by audience vote.
